Our brochures and bookmarks are a great way to get people thinking about the well-being of cats and birds. The brochures (pictured above) outline the risk to cats and birds of the common practice of letting cats roam unsupervised. They’re available in English and French editions, and the bookmarks are bilingual, with English on one side and French on the other.
Many cat-owners don’t make a conscious decision to let their cat outdoors – they do it simply because it’s what they’ve always done, or because it’s what their cat wants. The brochure and bookmark can help people think through the implications of that practice, and consider some of the alternatives.
At a recent event in Guelph, a boy relayed how his cat Bobby got hit by a car – the phrase he used was “totally squished” – so now they keep the new one indoors. Help us prevent cat squishing and save bird lives: convince more Canadians to keep their cats from roaming unsupervised!
